7QT: Flu, 10k, Gravendor, + Little Women

Here’s the bi-monthly blog post you all have been waiting for!

1. Stomach flu

We went out to breakfast for my grandmas’s birthday and Prim celebrated by barfing up all her chocolate pancake and hashbrown shreds all over herself, me, carseat, car while we were 1.5 hours from home! Atlas went down next (luckily at home) and Ollie, me, and Daniel all survived with only stomachaches. This photo was taken 5 minutes before she barfed…

2. 10,000 steps to Mexico

… is the name I have given my very rigorous exercise plan I started a few weeks ago in hope of looking alright when we go to Mexico at the end of the month. I got a new Albion fit swimsuit that actually made me feel BETTER about myself after I put it on so it is definitely a keeper. My goal has been 10k steps every day M-F. I’m pretty sure my neverending laps around the house to hit 10k is kind of stressing Poppy out but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Pretty sure the only physical change has been my booty butt (as my kids call it) getting smaller… I should be happy but I would have preferred you know… like my thighs or waist or love handles. Why can’t you choose where you lose inches!?, but it feels good to doing something consistent everyday.

3. Hufflepuff and Gravendor

I mentioned last time that we were reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone with Ollie and he is loving it. For the first 2/3 of the book he would ask me who Neville was again every time he was mentioned and it cracks me up because of course you’d forget who Neville is and when explaining the houses early on in the book he said, “Hufflepuff…Slytherin….Gravendor….” and then started laughing because he realized his mix up. He also (like many of us) keeps trying to figure out what house people would be in and we had him take this sorting hat quiz again now that he is familiar with them and he got Hufflepuff and is so happy about it. It was cute because we went back and answered the questions how we think Atlas would answer and he got Gryffindor.

4. Little Big Ollie

He has been seeming so big and little to me lately. He is little in size, but his personality (and attitude lately…) has been making him seem so much older to me.

Big:

But then little:

Playing with his cars that he used to be obsessed with that he has long forgotten and him with Johnny on twin day at school who is only 13 months older than him…!  How is he turning 6 this year?? tears and tears.

5. Little Woman

I finally finished! I was so sad to be done with it even though it was 777 pages long. I powered though it the past couple days, crying my eyes out, smiling so wide. I know it’s a thing for every girl to identify with one of the girls and it took me a while to realize that I’m most like…. Amy! Not creepily similar, but definitely relatable on many fronts. I can go on and on, but if you’ve read it ya know and if you haven’t ya should asap. The Screwtape Letters is up next for me!

6. TV + Movies + Links

WE LOVED LA LA LAND.  The kids have been loving the soundtrack, too. <<< spoiler free review, ya welcome.

How crappy has The Bachelor been? Last time I updated you guys I said Daniel was watching with me and after week 2 with Corrine’s little attention seeking games, he quit on me. I don’t blame him. But I love Vanessa and Rachel.

Also, how bleh has Jane the Virgin been? I’m close to quitting it. Anyone else feel the same?

After seeing Little Women’s pretty book cover on your instagram feed and learning here that it is way better than the film (which I loved by the way as a child), I can’t wait to read the book!!! I was just about to start a new book, so it will have to wait, but I’m excited to read Little Women.

Also my oldest is turning six in March, so I can totally relate to the big boy, little boy feelings!!!

I am SOOO with you on the 10,000 steps. I find myself jogging in place every night just so I’d hit it! lol But it does feel so good to know I’ve moved around during the day. Nothing quite as depressing as looking down at 6pm and realizing you’ve only taken three thousand steps.
