A couple weeks back was our 4th annual Big Sur camping trip that we take with an ever growing group of our friends (we’re averaging 2+ babies a year).

Every year we take a group photo.

What a great post! Thx for sharing a peek into your amazing trip!! I clicked over from Camp Patton to your BS video…loved it.

We’re from NY and every year we tackle a different “section” of the US…we drive 8-10K miles, tent camp, tour national parks, etc…….been doing it forever and now our kids are 15 and 12~! We only have another 3 or so summers to do this before my oldest goes off to college. This year we are touring southern CA, Death Valley, NM, AZ, TX, KY, TN…your pics were so lovely and really brought me back to when our kids were small and we started doing this! And I have to agree: I think you do live in the best state—although, have you ever been to upstate NY? We camp in the Adirondacks every summer for one week in August…… it’s positively heaven on Earth…not what one would think of “New York!” Loving your blog; I’ll be a regular…God bless!

Thanks!!

Aw, thank you so much! What a special thing to share with your children. They will treasure that so much. I would love to make that a tradition in our family. And there’s so way you can shake me from my love of California! My husband and I lived in Colorado for a year and I don’t think I could survive an east coast winter! Thank you for reading and leaving such a lovely note. :)

Looks beautiful and like lots of fun. Just wondering what the name of the campsite is? And do you have to book the whole site like 6 months in advance in a two minute window, like the rest of campsites in Cali? We’ve been camping more as a family, but the issue is that we never get our act together long enough to book sites in advance. Hoping this could be a family friendly alternative for us, as we’re not far! Lovely blog by the way.

We always camp at Big Sur Campgrounds and Cabins. We typically have no problem booking 3 months in advance and we usually go in the start of the off season so we haven’t had a problem finding a site. This campground is SO amazing with the playground and they have a little snack shack where you can get a soft serve cone and take it down to the river.
